Thank you for visiting the School of Education Web site.

It's an exciting time to be part of the School of Education.

Today's PK-12 generation is the largest and most racially and culturally diverse in history. We are meeting the needs of this new generation through the fulfillment of our urban mission, which includes the engagement of our outstanding faculty with schools and the community, and the integration of technology into our teaching and classroom preparation.

Our programs embrace our urban mission, with a focus on preparing educators to meet the unique social and economic challenges of our urban environments. Our faculty, internationally recognized for their research, scholarship and leadership in education, are dedicated to the preparation of urban educators -- teachers, administrators, counselors and other personnel, who will provide creative leadership to schools and community agencies.

Technology continues to play an important role in teaching and learning. Faculty and administrators are committed to integrating cutting-edge instruction that prepares our graduates to carry out their responsibilities with skill and confidence.

Diversity is the hallmark of our urban mission. Our focus is on preparing graduates to work with diverse students and colleagues, to understand and work with students who have different learning styles, and to engage parents, the community and social service agencies in a collaborative effort in the teaching of our children. We also recognize the importance of teaching our graduates how to motivate students, effectively manage classrooms, and become knowledgeable in how children develop and learn.

As a means of reaching out to our community, we have developed the Milwaukee Partnership Academy to Improve the Quality of Teaching and Learning and the Collaborative Teacher Education Program for Urban Communities. These are cutting-edge programs destined to produce new models for teaching and learning, both in our urban schools and in the university.

Whether you are seeking a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree, post-baccalaureate certification, or are looking for professional development opportunities, we invite you to join us in our commitment to diversity, equity and excellence in the preparation of tomorrow's educators.
