Educational Administration & Supervision

The Department of Administrative Leadership is committed to the development of educational leaders, particularly for service in metropolitan areas. We believe that excellent educational leaders nurture leadership among others in the school community, create positive work environments for students, staff, and parents; and contribute to the improvement of teaching and learning.

Our leadership development program prepares leaders to be change agents; adept at creating and engaging teams of professionals, evaluating current conditions, understanding how complex systems work, instilling a shared vision, and creating learning communities with high standards for students.

This program is for individuals who aspire to become building and district level administrators, specifically in positions of principal, assistant principal, director of instruction, director of special education and pupil services, school business manager or superintendent. Program Delivery Models and Course Sequencing

The Department of Administrative Leadership offers graduate students the opportunity to pursue a Master's degree and/or DPI licensure in a flexible and convenient format.

Courses are primarily offered online through the Desire to Learn (D2L) platform. Select core courses are also taught in hybrid format, using both face-to-face (F2F) and online (OL) instruction. Students can complete the licensure and/or degree sequence in an accelerated format (taking two courses each semester) if they choose and should work closely with a faculty advisor to determine the sequence and order of courses that will best meet their personal and professional needs.
