Curriculum Authors Visit Milwaukee

The CMSER and the Milwaukee Public Schools sponsored a visit by Susan Jo Russell and Karen Economopoulos, authors of Investigations in Number, Data, and Space, to Milwaukee at the end of September. They are two of the authors that developed the Investigations elementary mathematics curriculum which is being implemented in MPS. The authors spent time talking with the participants in CMSER sponsored projects and with MPS mathematics representatives, teacher leaders, and administrators. They addressed the issued of assessment and computational fluency, and their presentations provoked rich discussions and an increased understanding of the curriculum.
