American Geological Institute EarthComm Field Test Workshop
Goal:The goals of this program was to prepare high school earth science teachers to implement the field test version of EarthComm materials, to provide support for the implementation of the EarthComm materials, and to provide the highest quality return of the field test evaluation instruments and data sets, during the 1999-2000 school year.

Description: Faculty members from the Center for Math and Science Education Research (CMSER) and the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee?s Department of Geology cooperated to:
- Prepare 24 participants, 10 local and 14 out-of-state teachers, to implement the field test version of the EarthComm curriculum through their attendance at the workshop.
- Increase the knowledge base of innovative, standards-based teaching strategies and curricular activities in the 24 teachers.
- Award free graduate credit to the participants to help update their license and add a sense of professionalism to the study.
- Demonstrate the utilization of local resources if Milwaukee to promote the use of the curriculum beyond the classroom walls.
