Distributed Leadership for Mathematics Project

June 2005 - May 2006

This collaborative project between the Milwaukee Public Schools and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is a great opportunity for elementary (K-5) teachers to develop mathematics content knowledge and coaching skills to facilitate conversations in mathematics in their schools.

UWM will waive graduate or undergraduate, resident tuition for participants in the project, who will earn 5 free credits by the end of the project. The course will meet at a MPS site for a 7-day summer institute and 14 sessions on Tuesday evenings during the school year. In order to foster in-school growth, teachers must enroll as a school team of at least two teachers.

This project is funded by the Wisconsin Improving Teacher Quality Program, with additional funding provided by MPS and UWM.
