Programs For Youth
Youth Enterprise Academy
The UWM Center for Economic Education sponsors the Youth Enterprise Academy (YEA) annually during the last week of June and the first week in July. The YEA is an opportunity for students to experience an engaging approach to personal finance and economics. The academy is open to current 9th and 10th graders from the Milwaukee Public School system. Participants are selected based on the contents of an essay, GPA, and references. The academy is held daily on the UWM campus with field trips to include the Chicago Federal Reserve and the Chicago Board of Trade.
Youth Enterprise Investment Club
The UWM Center for Economic Education organizes teams of 5 high school students chosen from participation in the Youth Enterprise Academy (YEA). Each team manages a $10,000.00 college scholarship fund. The teams meet over two years and upon graduation the fund is equally divided and awarded to the team members.
