Comprehensive Master's Degree Exam Information for Online Program Students
It is important to sign up for the Comprehensive Master's Degree Examination well in advance of the scheduled exam date.
Logistics of the Exam The comprehensive exam for Fall, 2008 is as follows:
Date of the comprehensive exam: Saturday, November 15 Time of the comprehensive exam: 9 am - 12 pm, Central Standard Time (CST) [USA]
At the appointed date and time, login to the D2L test website: adult_ed_online_masters_comp_exam - Online Master's Program Comprehensive Exam. Download the examination paper and save it to your desktop. Do this first! Do not attempt to write your exam before you have saved this document and named it.
Using the document you have just saved, you should do your examination using a word processor (such as Microsoft Word) and then submit the finished exam paper to the D2L dropbox within the allotted time period.
Please note that study aids of any type are not permitted during the exam. You should not have books or reading materials, papers, or notes open or present with you while you are taking this exam. Doing so not only violates the conditions of the examination, but also greatly increases the opportunity for plagiarism. Avoid any chance of your paper being anything but your own, original work.
Test Preparation StrategiesJoin a study teamYou are encouraged to participate with a group in order to facilitate your study for the exam. Once within a study group, you should abide by the study rules that the group has set up. Study groups are not monitored and the staff will not interfere with or comment on any group activities. Please note that the study groups will end one hour prior to the final examination and you will lose access to this site at that time.

Review the previous examA copy of a previous exam will be emailed to you at the time of your registration. This exam is meant to be illustrative and does not guarantee that it will represent the specific questions or content of your actual exam. .
Review the major theories and frameworks discussed on core course topicsIdentify how these are (or should be applied) to practice problems with which you are familiar. A helpful document, Comps Exam Matrix Study Guide, is available at the bottom of this page; please click on it to download it.
Test Taking StrategiesChoose the three questions to which you will write responses.
Develop an outline of your responses.
Check the remaining time and divide by 3.
Write each question using only the amount of time allocated.
Take a few minutes to proofread each section.
Answer only the questions that were asked; avoid doing a brain dump on the subjects in general.
Remember that you must upload your exam paper to the D2L dropbox in order to submit it. You will receive feedback immediately after this is done.
The exam will be proctored by a faculty member. You will receive more information about this on the day of the exam at the D2L examination website.
