Fellowships
The Graduate School currently offers two fellowships for full-time study.
The Graduate School Fellowship (GSF)
This fellowship is for new and continuing graduate students. The GSF is a one-year, non-renewable fellowship.
The Advanced Opportunity (AOP) Fellowship
This fellowship is for new and continuing qualified graduate students who are members of groups underrepresented in graduate study or who are otherwise disadvantaged. Applicants must be American citizens or permanent residents of the United States. The AOP is renewable.
These fellowships provide recipients with a monthly stipend for the academic year (fall and spring), coverage of in-state tuition and remission of out-of-state tuition (for students who are not residents of the State of Wisconsin). Recipients will also be eligible to enroll in state-sponsored health insurance.

Graduate Assistantships
The School of Education has several project assistant and teaching assistant positions available each year. Project assistantships are positions working with faculty and departments on administrative and/or research projects. A small number of teaching assistantships, available only in the Department of Educational Psychology, have students conducting and supporting classroom instruction. UWM Financial Aid
The UWM Financial Aid office provides assistance to students and their families in meeting the financial costs of attaining a degree in higher education. This support the University's goal of encouraging economic, social, cultural, and academic diversity in the student body by providing educational opportunities to all students. Financial support in the form of grants, loans, scholarships, and Work-Study is available through the UWM Financial Aid Office.
