Academic Advising Staff
The advising team in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction includes academic advisors, administrative and support staff, and graduate assistants.

Rachelle Alioto
Associate Chairperson
Rachelle has been with UWM since July 2000. As Associate Chairperson, she has oversight responsibility for the advising unit, as well as administrative responsibility for the operation of the department. Prior to coming to UWM, she held a number of leadership positions in non-profit agencies. She has her Master's degree in social work and nearly 20 years of management experience.

Andrea Azarian Academic Advisor
Andrea has been with UWM since July 2007. She is a certified English teacher (grades 5 - 8). Previously she taught English at Bruce Guadalupe and Edison Middle Schools. She has also taught in the Racine Unified School District. She has her Master's Degree in Educational Professional Development.

Rachel CocosAcademic Advisor
Rachel has been with UWM since November 2006. Rachel previously worked at Mount Mary College as the Director of International Student Affairs and ConnectED (an enrollment program for high school students). Prior to that, she worked in admissions at Mount Mary College. She has her Master's degree in Cultural Foundations of Education.

Rachel also advises all honors students who are pursuing teacher certification.

 

John LockmanAcademic Advisor
John joined UWM in December 2003. He previously worked at Mount Mary College as the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Athletics and Summer Recreation. Prior to that, he held a variety of student service position at the Univeristy of Wisocnsin - LaCrosse. He holds a Master's degree in College Student Personnel.

John's Program Assignments:

  • Middle Childhood through Early Adolescence (Last name: A - G)
  • Social Studies
John also advises all student athletes who are pursuing teacher certification.

 

Cynthia PattersonFirst Year Academic Advisor (students with 24 credits or less)
Cynthia, a Graduate student, joined the advising team in September 2009. She obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Adult Education in 2007 from UWM.  She is a pursuing her Graduate of Science Degree in Administrative Leadership with a focus on Academic Advising. She is expected to graduate in May 2010. Prior to coming to UWM, she was a teacher assistant in the Milwaukee Public Schools and assisted students with disability at King High School and Milwaukee Sign Language School.

Audrey WiseAdministrative Support
Audrey has been with UWM since June 2004 having previously worked in the English Department. She provides administrative and clerical support to the entire advising team. She has many years of administrative and customer service experience and is currently pursuing her Bachelor's degree in Information Technology.
