Bachelor of Science Degree Requirements
CED Lower Division Coursework: 81 credits
I. General Education Requirements (GER) 24 credits
UWM Milestones:
  • English Competency: Placement level of 4 or higher on the English Proficiency Test or complete English 102 or an equivalent course with a "C" or better.
  • Math Competency: Placement level of 30 or higher on the Math Placement Test, or complete Math 105, 106, 175, or an equivalent course with a "C" or better.
  • UWM Cultural Diversity: Complete 3 units from GER list in the current Schedule of Classes.
  • Foreign Language: Two semesters of one foreign language, or two years of one foreign language in high school.
GER Distribution: 24 credits
  • 3 credits English
  • 3 credits Fine Arts (GERA)
  • 6 credits Humanities (GERH)
  • 6 credits Social Science (GERS)
  • 6 credits Natural Science (GERN; GERL-one course must be a science lab)
II. Advanced Expository Writing: 3 credits
Choose one of the following 3 credit courses: ENG 201, 202, 205, 206, 207, 208, 214, 230.

III. Lower Division Electives: 42 credits
Choose courses from any UWM school or college; lower or upper division may be used to fill this requirement.

IV. Community Education (CED) Lower Division Core: 12 credits
  • 3 credits ED POL 111-Organizing for Social Action in Urban Communities
  • 3 credits ED POL 112-Introduction to Community Education
  • 3 credits ED POL 113-The Milwaukee Community 
  • 3 credits ED POL 114-Community Problems

VI. Educational Policy Foundations : 15 credits
Choose ED POL courses, 300 level and above. Maximum 6 units of fieldwork allowed (ED POL 409, 688, 698). Independent Reading courses may not be used for this requirement.

Choose courses from any UWM school or college, 300 level and above. Independent Reading course may be used for this requirement.
