Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher Certification Program
Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher Certification Program prepares educators to work with children and youth who are deaf and hard of hearing. Students admitted to the program can earn certification to teach children who are deaf and hard of hearing in Kindergarten through 12.  Students are also eligible for certification in cross-catagorical special education (MCEA or EAA Level).

PATH Project funding available 2009 through 2013.

The program requirements for certification will depend upon students' educational background and previous teacher certification. 
 

Post Baccalaureate Certification

With a bachelor's degree, any area, and no previous certification in regular or special education, the program is two-years with the option of completing a Master's Degree in Exceptional Education.

With teacher certification in regular education, the program is two years. However, selected requirements are fulfilled based upon completed courses in regular education certification program. Students can complete a Master's Degree in Exceptional Education.

Masters Degree with Certification in D/HH - Distance Education

Individuals with certification in special education can earn certification in the area of D/HH through an with many courses available Online. The program can be 1-2 years.  Most requirements can be completed in the students' geographic area.
