Call for Proposals

The Institute for Urban Education (IUE) faculty and staff is pleased to announce this request for proposals (RFP) for the IUE's first annual Professional Development Conference (IUE-PDC). The 2014 IUE-PDC increases professional development opportunities for Wisconsin teachers who are working in urban settings or want to work in urban settings. Our conference highlights culturally responsive teaching as a necessary practice for students who are culturally diverse.

IUE-PDC Goals:

  • To inform educators about the importance of culturally responsive teaching practices
  • To provide engaging and practical ideas that will be useful for educators in their daily work
  • To encourage and empower teachers as they begin the 2014-2015 academic school years

Who is the IUE-PDC audience?

  • Current cooperating teachers in urban schools
  • Teachers interested in becoming a cooperating teacher in an urban school
  • Novice and mentor teachers interested in culturally responsive teaching
  • All other educators desiring to learn more about culturally responsive teaching and urban education
