PI 34 Professional Development Plan Reviewer Training

Dear Colleague,

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) in conjunction with the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) is offering training for individuals who wish to become Professional Development Plan (PDP) reviewers. Under PI 34, educators who obtained their license after August of 2004 must now complete a PDP in order to renew their licenses. Completing this training will allow you to be listed in the DPI database as a qualified reviewer as a member of a professional development team.

UWM needs to recruit and train educators who will be willing to participate in professional development teams. We need individuals who are licensed teachers, licensed administrators, licensed pupil service personnel, and IHE (institutes of higher education) representatives. These individuals will provide services such as reviewing and approving PDPs, mentoring initial educators and reviewing completed PDPs to ensure that requirements are fulfilled. DPI will be providing a one-day training for team members here at UWM, on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010. DPI will cover the costs for this session.

We invite you to become a part of UWM's PDP reviewer team. You would need to commit to the Wednesday, February 3rd training day from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The location will be the UWM Union, Room TBA.  Lunch will be provided, and parking passes for the Union garage will be available. If you commit to the training, you will be listed by DPI on their Web site/database as someone who has been trained to review PDPs. Keep in mind, every educator graduating after 2004 is required to complete a PDP. Therefore, PDP reviewers are needed as each PDP must be approved by an administrator, educational peer and higher education faculty member. We look forward to seeing you on February 3rd!
