James and Yvonne Ziemer Graduate Fellowship 2008-9

Description of Award
This fellowship is awarded annually to exceptional newly-admitted or currently enrolled School of Education Graduate students.
If awarded, the fellowship recipient receives:

$20,000.00 stipend for the Academic Year (Fall/Spring).

General EligibilityThe James and Yvonne Ziemer GraduateFellowships are for full-time study only. No full-time employment or another full scholarship or fellowship may be held concurrently with this fellowship.

These fellowships are offered for one year and they are renewable.

Selection CriteriaThe James and Yvonne Ziemer GraduateFellowships are highly competitive and are based on an assessment of academic achievement and potential.

Criteria:

  • Graduate of a high school located within Milwaukee County
  • Academic Achievement (i.e., Undergraduate and Graduate grade point averages)
  • Enrollment in a graduate program within the School of Education
  • Member of a racial or ethnic minority group underrepresented in higher education within the UW System
  • Financial need  (i.e., submission of Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA))
  • Two letters of recommendation
Fellowship Application Deadline:
  • April 20, 2009 - Applicant must have a completed application packet to the Urban Education Doctoral Program office
  • May 11, 2009 - Fellows for the 2008-09 academic year will be announced
