Amy Otis-Wilborn

Amy Otis-Wilborn is coordinator for the preparation program for teachers of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and youth. She is also part of a faculty team responsible for preparing special educators for primary and middle level students. She has been involved in a number of projects including the Center for African-American Achievement and Four Cities Urban Professional Development School Network that links school-university partnerships in Milwaukee, Chicago, Cleveland, and Detroit.

Otis-Wilborn's research and writing focus on teacher education and language and literacy needs for children with exceptional education needs. She recently received a five-year federal grant to develop and implement a distance education program, Culturally Appropriate Teacher Education for Teachers of Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CATE-DHH). Otis-Wilborn earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Kansas.
