Department of Curriculum and Instruction
Cyrus Smith's teaching and research interests focus on literacy and academic enrichment for children and adolescents. He teaches reading methods courses for middle level and secondary education majors and supervises student teachers at the middle and high school levels.
Smith was chosen as one of three recipients of the campus-wide UWM Undergraduate Teaching Award for 2000. He was the faculty advisor for UWM's College for Kids academic enrichment program for 15 years. College for Kids brings approximately 2,500 children to campus each year. Smith earned his M.S. degree from the University of Cincinnati and his Ed.D. from Indiana University.
