About the Community Planning Council (CPC)The University of Wisconsin Milwaukee-Partnerships for Education is dedicated to working with community residents and stakeholders in the community. Working out of the School of Education,
Partnerships for Education is a Milwaukee Idea Initiative.
Corliss D. Wood-administrator for Partnerships for Education is the former chair of the Community Planning Council and works closely with the YMCA, Common Council President Willie Hines, Jr., County Supervisor Elizabeth Coggs Jones, State Representative Leon Young, WHEDA, and other stakeholders.
UWM's School of Architecture & Urban Planning (Campus Design Solutions) provided partial funding for the Community Outreach Advocate position.
The Community Planning Council (CPC) was established to provide a means for interaction collectively with neighborhood residents residing within the Neighborhood Strategic Planning Area (NSP) #10 of the City of Milwaukee. City, county, state officials, local organizations and stakeholders assist the CPC in the promoting and preservation of the quality of life in our neighborhoods.
The CPC works closely with the stakeholders mentioned below in the formation and development of anti-crime and beautification plans that are specific to the NSP Area #10 residents.
Neighborhood Strategic Planning AreasThe Neighborhood Strategic Planning (NSP) Area #10 boundaries are from 8th Street to the East side 20th Street and North side of Walnut Street to the South side of Locust Street. The following associations reside within the aforementioned boundaries:
Clarke Street Community AssociationFrom 17th Street to the NS of Wright Street and Center Street to the NS of Teutonia Ave.
Johnson Park Neighborhood AssociationFrom 16th through 19th Streets and Walnut Street to Brown Street
Phyllis Wheatley Neighborhood AssociationFrom 17th Street to 20th Street and North Ave. to Center Street
Saint Paul Neighborhood AssociationFrom 17th Street to Teutonia Ave. and North Ave. to Wright Street
WAICO-Walnut Area Improvement Council and
ARC-WAICO-Apartment Resident CouncilWalnut Street to I-43 and Reservoir Street to Fond du Lac Ave.
Walnut Way Conservation CorporationFrom 12th Street to 20th Street to Fond du Lac Ave. and from Walnut Street to North Ave.
Meeting Times The Community Planning Council meets the third Saturday of every month at the Northside YMCA 1350 W. North Ave. from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. All of the individuals and board members involved with the Community Planning Council volunteer their time and efforts to make it a success.
