SPARK Literacy Program
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee students now have the opportunity to participate in an exciting new literacy program for K-3rd grade students in the Milwaukee Public Schools, called SPARK.
This literacy program is a collaboration between the School of Education, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee and AmeriCorps. This is a paid position and students do not need to be in the School of Education to participate. Tutors will receive a weekly paycheck and an education award that can used for tuition. We anticipate hiring 60 students for this program for the fall of 2009.
The hours are flexible, but tutors will need to work 15 hours per week on average. The work will take place in an MPS School and/or Boys and Girls Club located in the City of Milwaukee. The position begins in September. Applications are available in the Office of Academic Services in 209 Enderis Hall. An electronic application can also be sent to you. This position may be used for field work in the Ed Policy or Ed Studies Programs in the School of Education.
