Introduction to Teaching

Introduction to Teaching students do 50 hours of fieldwork and are assigned two per teacher. They set their own schedule directly with the teacher. For many of these students this is the first time in a classroom since they were pupils in school.

This document gives ideas how to involve the UWM student in your classroom.

Intro to Teaching Suggestions

Middle Childhood-Early Adolescence (1-8 Certification Area)

The following documents show an overview of the courses students are taking at UWM, the days the students will be in your classroom, and general expectations. These students are placed in pairs to do their fieldwork and are expected to bring more detailed information when they arrive in your classroom.

First semester fieldwork in grades 1 and 2 – Block I

Second semester fieldwork in grades 3, 4, or 5 – Block II

Third semester fieldwork in grades 6, 7 or 8 – Block III

Early Childhood Education (preK-3rd grade Certification Area)

Students are placed in pairs and come do fieldwork one morning per week for approximately three hours. UWM students are expected to come with detailed information for you.

Becoming a Cooperating Teacher
