Action Teams
Action teams are working to improve the student experience in a number of focus areas, including:

• Investing in DiversityThis group is studying ways in which departments across the university are attracting and retaining a more diverse student population. The successes will be replicated in the School of Education in order to continue improving our already strong committment to and success with a diverse student body.

• Improving Access to AdvisingThe Assistant Dean and Director of the Office of Advising and Academic Services for the School of Education was invited and joined this specific committee. The group is looking at ways in which to receive immediate feedback from students regarding the advisement that they receive. An assessment tool is being developed to look at student feedback once they have met with their advisor/professor.

• Maximizing Student Access to FundingThis group is studying and identifying ways to streamline the reception of financial aid for students.

• Increasing Accountability and ConnectionsThis group is continuing to reach out to students in order to receive input from them. They are developing responses to common student concerns that will be shared on the website. In addition to the feedback function on the website, other efforts (e.g. town hall meetings) are being developed in order to maintain a steady stream of feedback from students.

• Student ReceptionsThis group plans and organizes receptions for School of Education students.
  
  

These work groups actively identify and assess student needs, examine available resources, and make recommendations to the Council. Action teams are comprised of both students and SOE faculty and staff and meet outside of the regular Council on Student Success' meetings.
