HOW TO APPLY

Students wishing to participate in the DOIT program must follow the same application procedures as for the regular SOIS MLIS program with the addition of a letter explaining why they are interested in this program and how they qualify for it. This letter should address the two main themes of the project: diversity and organization of information.

Please note: The letter of interest for the DOIT Project is in addition to the Reasons for Graduate Study Statement that is submitted to the UWM Graduate School.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS

Application to the Masters of Library and Information Science program must be made both to the UWM School of Information Studies and to the UWM Graduate School. SOIS and the Graduate School review each application. No student is admitted except on favorable recommendation by SOIS. The Graduate School notifies the student of the SOIS recommendation as well as its own decision on admission. If the SOIS Admissions Committee needs additional information or clarification of any part of the Graduate School or SOIS application, an interview with the applicant (in person or by telephone) may be required.   • Better representation of groups currently underrepresented in the profession of librarianship
