– Advising/Recruiting Internship
Position Description:
Intern will work closely with Undergraduate Advisor, Jennifer Hawkins. Intern will shadow and be trained on all aspects of advising and recruiting that occur in the BSIR to include all duties and responsibilities that are under the Academic Advisor job description for SOIS. Intern will primarily work in a supportive role to the Undergraduate Advisor. Intern will be invited to attend campus-wide meetings that coincide with the Advisor role. Primarily the internship will be focusing on the recruiting/prospecting end of the position, but will include shadowing of advising appointments as allowed by students.
Duties and Responsibilities: To be responsible for all aspects of outreach, recruitment and advisement in the undergraduate program Bachelor of Science in Information Resources (BSIR); this will include onsite students and online students enrolled through the UW College Connection (UWC); marketing strategies of the School of Information Studies (SOIS,) including establishing contacts with local corporations and the community; and tracking student retention and placement.
Additional Duties: Include supporting the Graduate Advisors.
Schedule: The intern is expected to give 5-10 hours a week to work up to Internship credit minimums. If not utilizing for course credit, additional hours may be requested. Scheduling is flexible around school schedule. Priority scheduling will be given to recruiting events that are scheduled irregularly, so flexibility on behalf of the intern is requested. Schedule will be determined upon hire.
Note: If used for course credit, this is an unpaid internship. If not using for course credit, then pay is dependent upon prior experience.
Anticipated start date: Immediate.
