SOIS International Initiatives Group (SIIG)
Our mission is to foster the infusion of international initiatives into SOIS curriculum drawing from international activities like collaborative research, study abroad, internships, fieldwork and employment. To that end, SIIG will expand or strengthen SOIS’ international partnerships abroad.
About SIIG
SOIS International Initiatives Group is an interest group aimed at creating awareness of SOIS’ international engagements in the department and across the UWM campus in furtherance of the recommendations of university’s Report of the Task Force on Internationalization. SIIG holds regular lectures and presentations from students, faculty and staff who are affiliated with projects or partnerships abroad.
Get Involved
There are many ways to join SIIG. The following are a few ways you can get involved:Fill out our survey
The survey will help us identify the best ways to serve our students and spark new connections.Attend one of our events
These events will be happening frequently throughout the academic year and are open to everyone.Bring Ideas
Have an idea for a new collaboration with a library, institution or community abroad? Pitch it to us! One of the goals of our organization is to foster these relationships. We can help you build this collaboration into a volunteer project, a research opportunity, or even a study abroad trip for future students. Even small ideas can take on a new life with enough curiosity and support. Try us on!
Join the Discussion
Join us at one of our events and add to our discussion about international initiatives. We invite everyone to come and participate. The ability to compare and analyze the different approaches to library and information science will enhance our identification with these new places.
