On the impact of admittance into the iSchools, SOIS Interim Dean Dietmar Wolfram says, “We are very pleased and honored to have been admitted to the iSchools organization. Back in 2009, a group of practicing professionals, students, and faculty gathered together to talk ethics. This gathering was the 1st Milwaukee Conference on the Ethics of Information Organization. Many of the participants came from the Midwest, but there were also some from Massachusetts, New Mexico, Texas, Toronto, and even Brazil. The topics discussed were as diverse as the participants. Papers ranged from theoretical and philosophical perspectives on MARC records, to the role of professionals in information organization, to the potential problems of giving users what they want, to the application of information organization in national security.

The computerized voice runs through the information at a speed that’s barely comprehensible to the untrained ear. Experienced screen-reader users, says Babu, an assistant professor in UWM’s School of Information Studies (SOIS), usually run the sound faster.
