Bio

Amy Cooper Cary directs the Archival Studies Program and administers the Certificate of Advanced Study in Archives and Records Administration. Amy received her MLIS with a specialization in Archives from the University of Michigan. She also holds a MA in Comparative Literature with a specialization in Translation (French) from the State University of New York at Binghamton. Prior to accepting the position at SOIS, Amy was Assistant Head of the Special Collections at the University of Iowa, and Archivist and Special Collections Librarian at the University of South Dakota. She has been extremely active professionally, currently serving as the Reviews Editor for The American Archivist and previously holding the position of Editor of Archival Issues. She has been a member of numerous committees for the Society of American Archivists and for the Midwest Archives Conference. Amy's research interests include the development of online archival education and its potential to diversify the profession, as well as Native American archives and their development and management. In her spare time, she reads an eclectic selection of books, and enjoys music, working the New York Times crossword puzzle, and cooking.
