Bio

Iris Xie is a Professor of Library and Information Science at UWM. She received her PhD from Rutgers University. Her research interests include interactive information retrieval, information retrieval system design and evaluation, digital libraries and human-computer interaction. She teaches mainly graduate level courses at SOIS, including INFO ST 682 Digital Libraries, INFO ST 571 Information Access and Retrieval and INFO ST 970 Doctoral Seminar in Information Retrieval. She has a strong publishing record in the field of LIS including her recent book, Interactive information Retrieval in Digital Environments and numerous papers in high ranking journals. Simultaneously, she presented her research findings at national and international conferences. In addition, she also received several research grants from different agencies and organizations. In her leisure time, she loves reading, Zumba, and travel.
