Bio
Steven Miller teaches MLIS and continuing education courses in information and knowledge organization, metadata, taxonomies, cataloging, and information architecture. Steven holds a BA in English, with a minor in Greek and Latin, from the University of Iowa, an MA and all-but-dissertation for a PhD in religious studies from Marquette University, and an MLIS from UW-Milwaukee. He has published a textbook on metadata, has given numerous conference presentations, and has developed workshop materials published by the Library of Congress and OCLC. Steven has served on committees and held leadership positions in several professional organizations, including Chair of the ALA ALCTS Metadata Interest Group, Co-Chair of the Wisconsin Heritage Online Metadata Working Group, President of the Online Audiovisual Catalogers (OLAC), and Chair of the Library of Congress PCC Task Group on Training for Integrating Resources. Steven is currently a member of the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative User Documentation Task Group and of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Library Metadata. In his spare time he enjoys books, movies, bicycling, travel, and performing arts.Courses Taught
