Connections: The Great Lakes Information Science Conference is a conference for all Library and Information Science (LIS) doctoral students and candidates. This is a student-focused conference that is intended to provide an opportunity for LIS doctoral students to share and exchange ideas and research. This is one of the best venues for LIS students to meet their fellow LIS colleagues and hone their professional presentation skills. LIS students and candidates need not be from the Great Lakes area to attend or present their research. The conference is open to all LIS doctoral students. This conference is organized and run by your fellow LIS doctoral students and is considered a forum for research at any stage.
In keeping with the original intention of the conference the theme this year is Discourse and Illumination. Connections 2011 is being held for the first time at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. There are two new features this year. On Saturday (5/21) afternoon there will be an invitation only workshop called Illuminating Your Research Agenda: a Workshop for Future Library and Information Science Faculty. There will also be a proceedings of the conference in which all accepted papers will be published.
Connections 2011 planning committee is comprised of Edward Benoit III, Wyatt Ditzler, and Marta Magnuson
