Mission

The mission of the School of Information Studies Information Technology Department is to provide the SOIS faculty, staff, and students with needed IT services to further support research and the student education experience.

Goals & Objectives

  1. To provide SOIS with innovative and inclusive forward thinking to improve the broader mission of our school.
  2. To provide faculty with (i) desktop support, (ii) applicable technology training, and (iii) secure and reliable technology solutions for research and instructional use
  3. To provide students with the needed communications platforms and IT and support the distribution of knowledge in the classroom and in an online environment to successfully complete their academic career

+ Scheduled Maintenance - ePantherACCOUNT Administration
The suggested message is: What is happening? The UWM ePantherACCOUNT Administration Office is in the process of conducting the semi-annual deprovisioning of services accessed with the ePantherACCOUNT. The ePantherACCOUNT of individuals who have not registered for classes during the past two full semesters, are no longer employed by or hold a sponsored affiliation with UWM are being restricted on May 1st. This will affect access to pantherLINK, pantherFILE and some UWM computers. All files and information that are part of these services will be permanently removed when the accounts are closed at the end of the semester. The Tech Timeout period for the 2013 spring end-of-semester begins at 12:01, Fri., May 10 (Study Day) and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Wed., May 22 (3 business days after the last exam day). During this timeframe, University Information Technology Services (UITS) will not make changes that affect production-level services, functions or activities. Exceptions to the policy include situations that require maintaining the stability or security of services. Scheduled Maintenance: UWM Digital Archive On Tuesday, May 21 from 5-7:30 p.m., Photo Archive services will be unavailable during routine patching of the database server. During the maintenance, there will be no access to the Photo databases or the UWM Photo Archive at PhotoArchive.uwm.edu. On Thursday May 23 from 3 - 6 a.m., the campus Active Directory service will be undergoing maintenance while patches are applied to the servers' operating system. The authentication service for ad.uwm.edu will be unaffected during this timeframe. This maintenance is being performed as part of normal operating system best practices intended to ensure service integrity. What is happening? Network Engineers need to perform maintenance on the UWM WiFi networks in the UWM Union. During this maintenance windows some individuals may experience wireless connectivity issues. After maintenance is completed, connectivity should be restored. Why is this maintenance necessary? This is being done to help maintain the best connectivity for UWM WiFi service. When? On Sat., June 1st from midnight through 4 a.m., the UWMWifi, Eduroam, UWMSponsored, & Public wireless connections may experience intermittent outages. Maintenance is required to upgrade the system to ensure future stability and performance. Wired connections, telephone service, and areas with ProwlNet will not be affected.
