Research Interests

  • Biopsychosocial influences of exercise on various populations. Specifically, integrating physiological, environmental, and cognitive factors which influence motivation for, adherence to, and the impact of exercise on physical and psychological health.
  • Exploring emotional intelligence among athletes. Does the competitive sport experience influence the development of emotional intelligence, and/or how does EI influence athletic performance?

  • Assist in the implementation of research investigating physiological and psychological aspects of physical activity participation.
Fall 2002-January 2004
Wellness Coordinator, Our Space Inc.
  • Implemented a comprehensive Wellness Program including fitness, health education, alcohol and drug abuse education, and complementary therapies to a population of individuals diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Performed research on the effect of prolonged and acute exercise on psychological variables (i.e. depression, anxiety, self-esteem…) among psychiatric outpatients.
  • Designed and implemented a multi-level computer instruction program as a pre-vocational tool for individuals with mental illness.

  • Performed duties in the design, implementation, statistical analysis, and informal reporting of experiments on learning and memory.

Assistant Girls Track and Field Coach, Grafton High School.
  • Design and implement workout program for sprint and hurdle athletes
  • Integrate knowledge of sport psychology theory and personal experience to enhance the athletic experience of female high school athletes.
