About the Program
New Student Orientation is a one and a half day program that occurs during the months of June and July. In addition to learning about campus resources, receiving academic advising, and registering for classes, our overnight program offers time to learn about UWM's traditions, socialize with new students and experience campus life. All students are be required to stay overnight in the UWM residence halls with other incoming students. Parents or guests are welcome to stay in the residence halls as well, but will be housed in a separate building. There is a $20 per person, per night charge for guests. The overnight program begins at about 10:00am on day one, and will end by 1:00pm on day two.
After you take the Placement Tests, submit your Freshman Fee, and complete your University Housing Contract and deposit or Housing Exemption Form you will receive an invitation to register for New Student Orientation.
Parents and family members are welcome to attend our Family & Guest Orientation that runs concurrently to the student program. Families and guests will learn about campus resources to help better support you at UWM.
There are orientation programs throughout June and July to accommodate a wide range of individual schedules. However, if there is a scheduling conflict, please contact our office at 414-229-5842 or nsostaff@uwm.edu.Â
