Join one of 300+ student organizations
Some folks suggest that college is a time to take some risks, try new things, stretch your boundaries, and explore something out of the ordinary. Others might argue that you should get serious, buckle down, and really build your resume. How about if you do a little bit of both at the same time? There are few things that you can do in college that are better at helping you get connected to good friends and cool opportunities faster than joining a student organization [http://www4.uwm.edu/sao/involvement/orgs.cfm], all while preparing for the future!
• Still haven’t found something that excites you yet? What about planning large-scale campus events? Want to book comedians, artists, big-time thinkers and speakers, or up-and=coming musicians? The Campus Activities Board (or CAB for short) is a new student group that is working to bring talent to UWM and YOU have the opportunity to join the team and get a back-stage view while learning the ins and out of the entertainment industry.
• Ok, so, we admit that picking one or two of the 300+ student organizations can be overwhelming. If you aren’t sure where to start we suggest wandering into the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) [http://involvement.uwm.edu/] in Union 363, friending UWMCSI on Facebook, emailing (activities@uwm.edu), or even calling 414-229-5780. Feeling shy? You can search for options using PantherSync [http://uwm.orgsync.com/uwmorgs], the online home of all of UWM’s student orgs.
Be a joiner. Go ahead, check out PantherSync [http://www4.uwm.edu/sao/panthersync/portal/], make a friend, build your resume, have fun, learn cool stuff, do good things in your community, lead, grow, smile, and most of all, leave your mark [http://www4.uwm.edu/grads/#uwmgrad].
