Club Meetings and Activities

Club Meeting-Monday, 4/14/14 5:30

During the next meeting of the GIS Club we'll meet with Robert Koppelman from Feeding America. He has several GIS-related projects that he'd like our help with. Here's an opportunity to collect some of the community service hours that you'll need to get your GISP certification. We'll meet in Bolton Hall, Room 293.

Got a favorite pothole?

The GIS Club has started its work on the Milwaukee Pothole Mapping project. Download the free MapplerK (not Mappler-K) app from the Apple app store or from the Google Play store then get the log-in details at the project's web site.

See a pothole and map it with Mappler. It's easy and fun.

Watch here for Milwaukee Pothole Mapping project updates.

Estabrook Park Disc Golf Map

Client: Estabrook Disc Golf Club

Need: To create a map of each of the course's 18 holes.

Description: The Estabrook Disc Golf Club asked the GIS Club to survey the course and to produce a map for each hole. The map was to show the tee and the several alternative basket locations.

Results: On October 27, 2011 members of the GIS Club surveyed (and played) the Estabrook Course. We established the location of the holes and baskets using one of the club's Trimble Juno SB GPS receivers.

The club is translating the GPS fixes to maps for each hole.
