Current Officers

Being an officer on PRSSA's executive board is a great opportunity to learn valuable leadership skills, attend national and regional conferences, and get hands-on experience in the public relations field.


President
Erin Tomlin

Major: Senior graduating in May, double majoring in Psychology and Journalism and Media Communication with an emphasis on Strategic Communication.

Experience: Erin has past experience at the Keep Wisconsin Warm Fund as an Event Planning Intern and Historic Milwaukee, Inc. as part of the Marketing Committee.  She is currently a Special Events Intern at Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation.

Goals: She hopes to increase member involvement this semester and encourage everyone to have fun while "Doin' it in Public!"

Random fact: Erin is a creepy cat lady.

Vice President
Alyssa Hintzen

Major: Alyssa is a senior in Journalism and Mass Communications, with an emphasis on Strategic Communications.

Experience: She is currently a PR intern for Zizzo Group Advertising & PR. This is her fourth semester with PRSSA and second semester on the executive board.

Goals: Alyssa hopes to help increase member participation through new and exciting events, meetings and agency tours. She also hopes to raise awareness of PRSSA for new JMC students, locally and regionally.

Random Fact: Alyssa has an outrageous addiction to Caribou Coffee and spends way too much money on it.

Director of Accounting
Noah Kamsler

NoahMajor: Noah is a senior graduating in May 2010 with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication with an emphasis in Strategic Communication and a minor in History.

Experience: Noah is the publicity and marketing director for Restless Leg Productionsa and Operation Adaptation, LLC.

Goals: This is Noah's second semester on the PRSSA Executive board and he strongly encourages everyone interested in any aspect of communications to join, and get an inside look into the world of public relations.

Random Fact: Noah grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan and is a die-hard Michigan/Detroit everything fan...and yes that includes the Lions.

Director of Integrated Media
Ken Ryan

CheeksMajor: Ken is graduating in May with a B.A. degree in Journalism and Mass Communication with an emphasis in Strategic Communication.

Experience: Ken has held past internships with the Milwaukee Brewers and UWM Alumni Association, Zizzo Group Advertising + PR and a current position with Branigan Communications.

Goals: To maximize participation in the Chicago agency tours and Brewers outing this spring.

Random Fact: Has never eaten a fast food hamburger or at Taco Bell.

Director of Event Planning
Laura Miller


Major: Junior in Journalism and Mass Communications, with an emphasis on Strategic Communications.

Experience:
Laura traveled to Atlanta during the Summer of 2009 to be a part of the International Dairy Deli and Bakery Association's International Expo as a marketing intern.

Goals: Laura hope to increase membership camaraderie and participation this semester. There are many new ideas for volunteerism as well as social and career building events that she hopes members will enjoy!

Random Facts: Laura likes peppermint, the color yellow, coffee and fish objects.

Director of Creative Communication
Nicole Koremenos

Major: Journalism and Mass Communications with a emphasis on Strategic Communications.

Experience:
Nicole is on the hunt for an internship, but currently works at a hair salon in Whitefish Bay. She is in charge of the salons website & facebook page.

Goals: Nicole wants to increase awareness about PRSSA on campus and hopes to increase membership this year!

Random Fact: Nicole LOVES Coach purses.

Director of Internal Communications
Tina Wagner


 

Major: Double major in Communication and Journalism and Mass Communication with emphasis in Strategic Communications.


Experience:
Internship experience as public relations intern at Leonard and Finco Public Relations, Inc in Green Bay. Current communications intern for UWM University Communications and Media Relations where I am learning a lot more of the journalism aspect of writing. 


Goal: To increase awareness to students about PRSSA, and the benefits of joining and networking with professionals.


Random Fact: I hate chocolate. Yuck.

Assistant Director of Integrated Media
Brooke Sorenson

Major: Double majoring in German and Journalism and Media Communication with an emphasis on Strategic Communication.

Experience:
Brooke has had an on-campus internship with the UWM Manfred Olson Planetarium. This is her fourth semester in PRSSA and first semester on the executive board.

Goals: Brooke hopes to encourage members to participate in activities and events by keeping them updated on the website.

Random Fact: Brooke snorts when she laughs.

Ashley Batzner

Major: Senior in Journalism and Mass Communications, with an emphasis on Strategic Communications.

Experience:
Ashley is currently a Marketing Intern at Batzner Pest Management, helping them with social media, educational videos, press releases and more! 

Goals:Ashley hopes to raise awareness of PRSSA on campus and get more Strategic Communication majors wanting to join.


Random Fact:Has been a Hanson fan for the past thirteen years and is not afraid to admit it! (And yes, I mean those boys who looked like girls and sang "Mmmbop")

Faculty Advisor
Becky Crowder

Experience: Becky Crowder worked for a variety of advertising and public relations organizations for more than 18 years before joining the faculty at UWM. Her most recent position was as public relations director for Meyer & Wallis Advertising in Milwaukee.

During her career, Crowder has won numerous trade association awards in both advertising and public relations. Her teaching focuses on introductory and advanced skills courses in both disciplines. She also serves on many professional and community committees.
