You can get a sample essay topic by clicking your mouse on the blue/italics text "Current Essay Question" at the bottom of this page. Being prepared to successfully write the essay can be facilitated through practice. However, it is also very important that you receive feedback on what you write, the methods that you use to write and so forth. By starting early, you will be able to work with a tutor and improve your writing skills. We suggest setting aside time on a regular basis for essay preparation (which can be difficult to do given our hectic schedules, I know). But it is worth it.
For evaluation and tutoring take your practice esay to the Reading and Writing Center, Mitchell Hall Room 113. The Reading and Writing Center tutors and will be happy to read completed essays and offer strategies for improvement. To make an appointment call (414) 229-2260, and identify yourself as a Pre-OT student. Their fall semester hours are Monday & Wednesday 10:30am - 2:30pm, Tuesday & Thursday 8:30am - 11:30am, and Friday 10:30am - 1:30pm. E-mail: tarc@uwm.edu.
