University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee

The Southeastern Wisconsin Energy Technology Research Center (SWETRC) is a collaborative initiative between the U.S. Department of Energy National Energy Technology Lab (NETL), the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Marquette University, the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), and several regional industries and foundations. The mission of SWETRC is to: 1) develop an internationally recognized energy technology research center in Southern Wisconsin that is a joint university/industry partnership, and 2) create an infrastructure and enterprise that is capable of competing at a national level for large-scale energy research funds that are likely to come available this year.

Historic Endeavor

Formation of SWERTC would be unprecedented as it represents the first time the three engineering colleges within southeastern Wisconsin have partnered together on a research initiative in their history.

All parties feel that there is a tremendous opportunity for the three Universities to partner with regional industry to create the next generation of energy sources and technology.
