This summer, the Mini-Courses 2009 Summer Exploration Camp is offering two camps. The dates for the June 2009 Summer Exploration Camp are June 17-30, 2009. The dates for the July 2009 Summer Exploration Camp are July 13-24, 2009.
During the Mini-Courses 2009 Summer Exploration Camp Math & Science component, students will engage in hands-on experiments and will study the process of forensic science and investigative math to reenact a crime scene investigation. During the Reading & Writing component for the June Camp, students will work in teams to develop an advertising and marketing print commercial ad to produce a campaign. During the Reading & Writing component for the July Camp, students use their skills in reading and writing by working in teams to research, write and construct their own talk show topics, guests, and studio production.
The Mini-Courses 2009 Summer Exploration Camp is designed to reinforce middle school students' reading, writing, math, and science skills and enhance their interest in higher education. Students' academic skills are supported through numerous hands-on classroom activities which include aspects of research and group projects. Students attend a two week exploration camp which includes a math & science component the first week and a reading & writing component the second week. Each week there is a class related field trip to a local business and afternoon activities which focus on life skills, goal setting, and college awareness. There are 40 spots available for each camp. Lunch is provided.
Registration deadlines:
June 2009 Summer Exploration Camp: May 15, 2009 or when class reaches full-enrollment (usually prior to deadline).
July 2009 Summer Exploration Camp: May 22, 2009 or when class reaches full-enrollment (usually prior to deadline).
