Desktop Support Repair Technician

The UWM TechRepair Repair Technician Intermediate provides desktop computer support for UITS Tech Repair clients consisting of but not limited to end user technical support, desktop hardware support, Operating System, software support and documentation tasks as requested by clients and staff in UITS Desktop Support. The advanced position level requires approval of the Desktop Support Manager. This position operates under general supervision.

L&S IT Research and Documentation Technician

The L&S IT Technician – R&D is expected to support a wide variety of PC software, hardware, and networking concepts. Additionally, LSITO supports a large number of high-profile clients. Acceptable candidates should be detail oriented, organized, exhibit a willingness to learn on the job, demonstrate excellent communication skills and possess some knowledge and experience with a range of technologies associated with computer support. He or she should be able to work effectively both with and without direct supervision and be willing to multi-task.

This is an advanced level position. It is expected that a student hired into this position will possess some experience but will require a fairly extensive amount of training. It is also expected that the employee will show initiative in learning and advancing those skills which are marginal and might prevent him/her from performing at the expected level.

L&S IT Student Supervisor

The L&S IT Office Student Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of the L&S IT Office Technician team. The primary function of this role is the supervision of L&S IT Office Technicians providing Windows and Macintosh computer support for Letters & Science clients. It is expected that a student hired into or promoted into this position will possess strong leadership skills and highly advanced technical skills.

Acceptable candidates should be detail-oriented, organized, exhibit a willingness to learn on the job, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and possess some knowledge and experience with a range of technologies associated with computer support. He or she should be able to work effectively both with and without direct supervision and be willing to multi-task. It is also expected that the student employee will demonstrate initiative in learning and advancing those skills which will be useful in a professional setting. Student employees in this position serve as mentors/tutors for entry, intermediate, and advanced level students.

L&S IT Security Technician

This is a technical support, research and documentation position working on computer security related projects as assigned by the LSITO Information Security Coordinator. Acceptable candidates should be detail oriented, possess good organizational abilities and demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills. He or she should also be able to work effectively both with and without direct supervision and be willing to multi-task. This position will be working with students, faculty and staff.

UWM TechStore Sale Associate

A UWM TechStore sales associate will provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers to assess their needs and provide assistance. Sales associates have an emphasis on product knowledge, providing information on product features, and knowing related items to recommend and follow through on a transaction. Associates in this position know how to greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer in their department, and know how to communicate with colleagues in adjacent departments.
