UWM employees can receive free home-buying assistance in conjunction with the "Walk to Work" Employee Home Ownership Program, which is funded by the Division of University Relations and Communications.
In order to offer this service, UWM is partnering with Select Milwaukee, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to increasing home ownership in Milwaukee. The organization will provide UWM employees a full range of home purchase assistance, including pre-purchase financial and credit counseling, homeownership educational services, and resources available for home rehabilitations for current homeowners. By working with Select Milwaukee, UWM employees have the opportunity to receive home purchase subsidies, low-cost financing for first-time home buyers, and referrals to reliable real estate agents, home inspectors, and insurance companies at no cost to the employee.
Select Milwaukee will provide its services to any employee, no matter where the prospective home is located, although a major goal of the Walk to Work Employee Home Ownership Program is to encourage the purchase of homes in the neighborhoods surrounding UWM's east side campus.
Employees can take advantage of the Walk to Work Employee Home Ownership Program by contacting Select Milwaukee at (414) 562-5070 or email@example.com and indicating you are a UWM employee interested in the purchase or rehabilitation of a home. Again, there is no cost to the employee to participate in the program.
If you are interested in purchasing a home in the neighborhoods surrounding the UWM campus, take a look at the Housing Near UWM section on this page, which contains sales and rental listings in the area. Please note that these are only a small percentage of available sales listings. Employees are also encouraged to search realtor listings and to tour the neighborhoods to find houses for sale that are not included on this listing.
As a service to prospective and current faculty and staff and graduate students, this page lists properties that are available for rent and sale in the neighborhoods surrounding UWM. If you find a property that interests you, please call the number listed.
Please be aware of the following:
This listing service is available to UWM Faculty/Staff/Graduate Students ONLY. The properties advertised are available upon an equal opportunity basis. (See statement below). The properties listed are neither University-inspected nor approved. Properties will only be posted if they fall within the Neighborhood Relations geographical boundaries (Capitol Drive to Brady Street to the north/south and Holton Avenue to Lake Michigan to the west/east).
