Trecia - Before and After

Name:  Trecia Coleman

Trainer Name: Emily Wychgram and Travis Halena

What were your initial goals when you signed up for personal training?
When I signed up for personal training, I was literally desperate.  I had tried so many times to lose weight, but I never stuck with it long enough to see results.  So my goal was to start working out and stick with it, and I wanted to lose about 30 pounds.

Did you meet your goals? How?
I have met and exceeded my goals!  As of today, I have lost exactly 60 pounds.  I have grown to love working out, even when it’s hard and I want to give up.  On days when I know I won’t push myself hard enough, I go to Group X classes.  My favorites are Zumba, Tone Zone, Kickboxing Blast, and Ultimate Circuit.  I also participated in the Stepping Forward program at the Klotsche Pavilion, where I met others with common goals.  I learned a lot about nutrition and some of the psychological aspects of fitness, which helps me to understand myself and my emotions towards working out.

What is your favorite part of personal training?
My favorite part of personal training is having someone to not only be accountable to, but to have someone who is going to push me harder than I think I can go.  We have fun together every time we meet, but we also work HARD!  I think they really care about me reaching my goals, and that gives me motivation to work that much harder to reach them.  Emily and Travis have taught me that results don’t happen overnight, and you have to be committed to the process in order to see results.

With the benefits of your personal training, are you considering any new fitness goals?
Absolutely!  There’s a 5 mile walk/run that I would like to run in the fall, and I plan on losing about 30-40 more pounds. Before personal training, I would have never had the courage to believe I could run anywhere, let alone 5 miles.  It’s still a little intimidating, but I know I can do it!  Also, I would love to become a Zumba instructor in the Spring.

Other Comments:
The journey of weight loss, for me, has probably been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.  I’ve been overweight for as long as I can remember.  One day I looked in the mirror and wondered how I got to that place...248 pounds!  But it wasn’t until I accepted myself exactly the way I was, overweight and all, that I had the courage to start working on being a healthier me.  There are days when I don’t want to work out, and want to just eat a burger (I haven’t eaten a burger in about 6 months), but something inside of me keeps pushing me and telling me that I can make it, that I’m too strong to give in to my emotions.  Sometimes before working out, I have to look at motivational quotes for 30 minutes to give me enough strength to get up and get moving.  But whatever it takes, however hard it gets, however many tears I have to shed (yes I cry sometimes), I am committed to this process and invested in my health, and I won’t give up!  I am so proud of myself for finally sticking with something, and 60 pounds later, I am loving all of me.

Personal training has mostly taught me that fitness is a marathon, not a sprint (quoted from Travis), and I look forward to this journey of a lifetime!

Name: Cheryl

Trainer Name: Mollie Martin

What were your initial goals when you signed up for personal training?
I had none. It was the first year of my retirement and needed a purpose, something to fill my day. My first goal was just to walk a mile on the track. I just wanted (needed) to get up and moving.

Did you meet your goals? How?
Thanks to my kind, patient, and creative trainers I surpassed every goal I could have imagined, I can keep up in my Group-X classes as well as feel my arm and leg muscles. Plus…now I can wear a sleeveless shirt. (never did before)

What is your favorite part of personal training?
Mollie makes my session go so fast while making me feel proud of what I did. I love the fact that we’re always changing up and using different exercises. It’s been fun getting to know her.

With the benefits of your personal training, are you considering any new fitness goals?
My new fitness goals are up to the whims of my trainer. I trust her with my life (at least my body.)

Other Comments:
It’s been a joy using the Klotsche Center. My trainer and Group exercise gave me hope and inspiration that hopefully can carry me into a healthy future.
