Instructions for Completing the Laboratory Safety Sign Template

To create a sign, Lab/Shop/Studio supervisors or their designee should login to the program using their ePanther ID and password in the login box above.

Upon entering, click ‘Create’ to create a new sign profile. The program will prompt the supervisor to enter pertinent information about their area.

There are several guides that will help you to determine the appropriate information to enter into the profile. It may be helpful to review this information before you begin:

Once the information page is completed, click ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page. Depending on the information you provide, the program may prompt you for additional information. If required information has not been entered, the program will indicate the areas needing information with red text. Follow the directions to complete and click ‘Save.’ The person completing the form and University Safety & Assurances (US&A) will be sent an email confirming the sign completion. US&A will review the sign and contact the supervisor to post the sign.

List

To revise a previously entered sign, simply login to the program and click ‘List’ to display the previously entered sign profile. Choose the sign profile desired and click ‘Select.’ Make revisions to sign as desired and ‘Save.’ Again, the person completing the form and US&A will be sent an email confirming the sign completion. US&A will review the sign and contact the supervisor to post the sign.

 A database of all sign information is maintained by US&A and can be utilized in an emergency to assess potential hazards or to provide safety information to emergency responders, area supervisors and their staff.
