Rachael Sullivan

Rachael Sullivan is a PhD candidate in the English department's Media, Cinema, and Digital Studies (MCDS) program. She holds an MFA in Poetry from UNLV and an MA in Literary Studies from UT-Dallas, where she worked closely with the Emerging Media and Communication program. Her research uses lenses from actor-network theory, software studies, and textual studies to read experimental/unruly print and digital texts, arguing against their ostensible inaccessibility or black-boxiness. Her current project analyzes the rhetorics and phenomena of information overload, specifically in relation to how the feeling of "too much" influences readers and writers. Rachael practices theory in her creative work by making websites, inelegant JavaScript programs, and other digital texts. She has taught first-year composition and literature for a number of years. For 2012-2013, she looks forward to doing something different and nonteacherly as a project assistant at C21.
