    The FAO strives to raise levels of nutrition and standards of living, to improve agricultural productivity, and to better the condition of rural populations. The FAO is one of the largest specialized agencies in the United Nations system and the lead agency for agriculture, forestry, fisheries and rural development. They coordinate a special project on food security.
  2. Food & Water Watch
    Food & Water Watch is a Washington, D.C. based non-governmental organization and consumer rights group which focuses on corporate and government accountability relating to food, water, and fishing.
  3. World Food Program (WFP)
    WFP is the United Nations frontline agency in the fight against global hunger. In 2001, WFP fed 77 million people in 82 countries, including most of the world's refugees and internally displaced people. This site offers information about the work of the WFP and a clickable world hunger map.
  4. Feeding Minds, Fighting Hunger
    Developed by a consortium of different organizations including the American Federation of Teachers, the Food and Agricultural Organization, and I*EARN, Feeding Minds, Fighting Hunger is an online curriculum unit that helps teachers explore the issues related to global hunger with their students. Hunger is a fundamental issue impacting security worldwide.

    An organization supporting food traditions and sustainability, with resources for schools and communities to expand education on these issues.
  6. Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP)
    A sustainability organization focusing primarily on food systems, IATP offers a range of background resources, including smart guides that document safe foods and products.
  7. Biodiversity, Food and Farming
    Lesson plans for elementary students examining biodiversity and food systems.

    An examination of the debate surrounding biofuels, focusing on a case study of Mexican corn.
