Higher Education in South Africa

Last spring, the Center for International Education and the Center for Instructional and Professional Development welcomed Dr. Muki Moeng and Dr. Gerda Reitsma to UWM on Tuesday, April 9th.

Dr. Moeng and Dr. Reitsma spoke about higher education in South Africa and their efforts on behalf of students and teaching staff.

This informal session began at 11:30 AM in the American Geographical Society Library (3rd floor East Wing). Lunch and an opportunity to speak with our guests followed.

Our South African colleagues spent two weeks with us in Wisconsin exchanging insights into professional development, student success, and institutional policies and procedures.

Dr. Reitsma holds the position of Researcher in Higher Education Teaching and Learning at North-West University in South Africa.

Dr. Moeng has been involved in teaching, research and management in the higher education sector for over 10 years. She has a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and a Doctorate in Higher Education restructuring. Currently she serves as Institutional Director: Teaching and Learning, Academic Development and Support, at the North-West University in South Africa, a system of three campuses.
