11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Location: Union 181
This workshop will focus your discussions toward achievement of student learning outcomes and help you to avoid the common traps that bog down discussions or keep them from ever taking off. Why do discussions fail? What strategies can I implement before, during and after discussion to enhance learning? How can I use videos, entrance and exit assignments or other materials to prompt class discussion? How can I know that discussion is facilitating student learning? Over the course of the workshop, we will focus on how to establish a productive class environment, encourage interaction between students, and gauge critical, active engagement with course material.
