After freshman year, continuing students are assigned to advisors who will remain as their permanent advisors until graduation. Students are encouraged to meet with their advisor on a regular basis but at a minimum prior to fall registration and spring registration. For fall course selection, students should plan to make an appointment in March; for spring registration, a November appointment is recommended. Your advisor will help you identify the academic requirements specific to your program of interest, which requirements you are still missing, options for fulfilling the necessary courses, and the declaration of major process.
Students are strongly encouraged to declare a major by the end of their sophomore year to ensure the major and degree can be completed in a timely fashion. Ultimately, advisors help ensure that all graduation requirements are satisfied.
