Street cleaning schedule in effect

The City of Milwaukee conducts its regular cleanup of city streets April 1–Dec. 1. East Side streets – from Edgewood to Park Place, Maryland to Cambridge and streets in between – will be cleaned either the first or third Friday of every month.

New parking restrictions Posted signs remind drivers not to park in designated street-sweeping areas from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on those Fridays. Cars that are not moved will be ticketed and towed. A ticket will cost you $30. The towing fee is $95, plus a $20 storage fee for every day your vehicle spends at the city lot.

First or third Friday? Street sweeping alternates between the first and third Fridays on a neighborhood-by-neighborhood basis. For a detailed map visit: http://www.mpw.net/Pages/sweepeast.html.

Feeling forgetful? If you can’t remember to move your car on Friday, according to the signs posted on your street, sign up for the city’s e-notify service.

This free, electronic reminder can be accessed at www.milwaukee.gov. Click on “Get Notices by E-Mail (E-Notify).” Add your e-mail address to East Side Street Sweeping.
