Student Grant Awards for Degree-Related International Internships

Student Grant Awards for Degree-Related International Internships

Deadline: Noon, November 10

UWM’s Center for International Education (CIE), in partnership with the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR), plans to award grants of up to $1,000 each to qualified students pursuing a degree-related overseas internship experience during the Spring 2009 semester.

For many UWM undergraduates, overseas internships in their targeted professional fields provide a learning experience that immerses them in degree-relevant work, expanding their knowledge of their disciplines. Grant applications will be reviewed according to the following criteria:

  • academic record (minimum 2.5 GPA required)
  • soundness of the internship proposal
  • relevance of the internship to the student’s academic and career aspirations
  • letter of recommendation

Students may enroll in several different credit-bearing internship programs offered by UWM’s overseas exchange partners and program providers. Alternatively, students may secure their own internships, enrolling in an internship course number through their department, or CIE’s supervised overseas internship course (Global 489).
