General Information

Where to Park & Where Not to Park

For parking purposes the Parking Department follows the ADA guidelines:

Persons with disabilities which limit or impair the ability to walk means a person who as determined by a licensed physician:

  • Cannot walk 200 feet without stopping to rest, or
  • Cannot walk without the use of/or assistance from a brace, cane, crutch, another person, prosthetic device, wheelchair or other assistance device.

Drivers Transporting Disabled Persons

Able-bodied drivers who transport disabled persons generally will not be considered eligible to obtain a UWM DA parking permit. In such cases drivers may park at 30 minute meters to assist a disabled passenger.

Temporary Permits

Short-term UWM DA Permits

Available for sale to eligible persons (including the general public) and other persons with an obvious temporary disability on a daily basis for a period not to exceed four consecutive weeks. Short-term permits are also sold to persons in the process of obtaining the certified proof required to purchase an annual permit or eligible persons who expect to be on campus two days a week or less.

No refunds will be issued for any unused portion of time remaining on a short-term permit. Persons who purchase short-term permits and become eligible to purchase a long-term temporary or annual permit will be given credit for the cost of the short-term permit toward the cost of a long-term temporary or annual permit.

Long-term UWM DA Permits

May be purchased by eligible persons (including the general public) on a monthly or semester basis. The cost of permits issued for periods of less than one semester will be based upon the pro-rated annual fee for the term of the permit. Long-term temporary or semester permits may be returned for a pro-rated refund of the unused portion only if more than 20 days remain on the permit.
